So far this year, 13 Kemp's ridley nests have been confirmed on the Texas coast including (north to south in state):

Bolivar Peninsula 1
Galveston Island 0
Surfside Beach 0
Bryan Beach 0
Matagorda Peninsula 0
Matagorda Island 0
Mustang Island 0
North Padre Island 7, including 6 at Padre Island National Seashore
South Padre Island 4
Boca Chica Beach 1

Patrols have started on Galveston Island and Bolivar Peninsula.

First Kemp's Ridley nest of 2008!!!

The first Kemp's Ridley sea turtle nest was documented on the Texas
coast in 2008 on Satuarday, April 12.  The nest was located on South
Padre Island.  The nesting turtle was seen.  She was from the wild stock
and had not been documented nesting previously.

Patrols have begun all along the Texas coast. The public is asked to
call 1-866-TURTLE-5 (1-866-887-8535) immediately upon seeing a sea turtle on a Texas beach.
The turtles are protected by federal law.
